By this permit the Maryland Department of the Environment (the Department) authorizes the discharge of pollutants to Waters of this State in accordance with the effluent limitations and conditions set forth herein associated with construction activity. The Notice of Intent (NOI) for this General Permit is submitted electronically through the <a href="https://egov.maryland.gov/mde/npdes/Account/Login">ePermits website link</a>, as are Notices of Termination and Transfers.

The general permits for the various categories discharges provide Operators a streamlined process to apply for coverage. The General Permits contain limitations and practices required for a specific category of industry or activity that are generally very similar in their wastewater characteristics. General permits contain the processes for you to get coverage under that permit. The coverage requires that Operators notify the Department of their Intent (NOI) to abide by the permit, have fees and required documentation. When signing the NOI and applying for coverage you first need to fully read the General Permit, which is available on the Department's website.
