For No Exposure Certification for Exclusion from NPDES Stormwater Permitting
The intent of the no exposure exclusion is to provide all industrial facilities regulated under the industrial stormwater permit, whose industrial activities and materials are completely sheltered, with a simplified method for complying with the Clean Water Act. <br> If a condition of no exposure exists, then the facility is eligible for exemption for permitting for stormwater discharges from the facilities. Facilities wishing to take advantage of the permitting exclusion must submit the required certifications to the Department attesting to the condition of no exposure. Facilities must maintain their condition of no exposure or, if conditions change, obtain coverage under an applicable stormwater permit.

- To complete the application you submitted online, you must also print out the <a href="https://mde.maryland.gov/programs/permits/WaterManagementPermits/Documents/GP-Sig-Card.pdf">Signature Card for Submission of Online Notice of Intent</a>, have an authorized Signatory sign, and then send the original hardcopy to the Industrial Stormwater Permits Division per the form’s instructions.

The general permits for wastewater discharge increase the efficiency of the Department’s permitting process through the issuance of generic permits to categories of business activities which are generally very similar in their wastewater characteristics.<br> This permit covers discharges of storm water from industrial facilities.
